Pharmacy group raises over £320,000 for One Kind Act charity

A regional pharmacy group has helped to raise over £320,000 for a charity whose mission is to improve “the lives of people suffering from poverty of health and education around the world”.

Pyramid Pharmacy Group, which has 27 pharmacies in the south of England, hosted an event for One Kind Act, bringing together local businesses and other community stakeholders for a garden party at the Buckinghamshire home of Pyramid’s owners the Bhogal family.

Pyramid said 220 guests attended the party “which combined fundraising with an afternoon of celebration", including live music and a DJ, a raffle and an auction, during which a Rolex Submariner was sold for £14,000.

The event’s largest donors were Samit and Alpa Hathi of B&S Group. In total, £320,839 was raised. The charity's patron is former England international cricketer Mark Ramprakash who was at the event.

“Over the years, One Kind Act has funded projects across Europe, Asia and Africa, helping to improve lives through better health, education and poverty relief,” Pyramid said.

“Its support has reached a wide range of causes, from hunger relief and child welfare to homelessness, cancer care and head injury foundations.”

It added: “This record sum will go directly towards One Kind Act’s grant-making work, helping to fund organisations supporting communities in need.”

Pyramid CEO Raj Bhogal said: “We are incredibly proud of what we have been able to achieve for One Kind Act. For us, community pharmacy has always been about more than healthcare. It's about looking after people and doing what we can to support the communities around us.”
